In few countries was the resistance to the Nazi occupation as successful as in Greece. Our design is based on a the titling from a contemporary administrative building of the Greek People's Liberation Army, ELAS. By 1944 the resistance had regained control of 60% of the country and all major cities, except Athens. But after the liberation Churchill, with the support of those parts of Greek society that had collaborated with the Nazis, turned on the mainly Communist-supporting resistance. Partisans were driven from their homes, hunted down, forced into exile, all to ensure that Greece remained in the orbit of the 'West'.
